Small businesses 'are indifferent about data security'
Published Date: 18/07/2012 11:05:04
Small businesses are apathetic when it comes to the issue of data security.
Graeme Batsman, director of Datadefender.co.uk, noted there are a lot of bad attitudes in the sector at present.
"In most cases they're doing pretty much nothing. So I guess the public are probably concerned, but it's the small and medium companies that aren't doing much," he added.
Firms with business insurance in place need to look to their directors for guidance on this issue, as workers are increasingly using computers to go about their daily tasks.
Mr Batsman went on to note the main problem is that too many companies have an 'it will never happen to us' approach and because of this, fail to put any safeguards in place.
Data security should be seen as an investment, rather than just an expense, as it could save firms money in the long run should anything go wrong.
